Objectives of class X
In biology students are expected to:
Explain basic concepts of genetic information, their use in cell division and in heritage of types.
Describe the reproduction of living things in all levels and all types of living things, while describing division of cells up to human reproduction.
Explain genetic concepts, including concepts of mendelean genetics and modern genetics.
Analyse the concepts of evolution while being able to explain concepts of the predecessors of life.
Describe ecoconcepts on the level of peoples and communities.
Determine through experiments what is mitosis, the reproduction of plants, the build-up sexual cells, mendelean heredity and adaptability of living organisms.
General objectives for class XI
In Biology,by the end of the year students are expected to be able to:
Explain the organization of plant bodies and their life functions.
Analyse the processes which provide energy to animals and humans.
Explain the mechanisms which secure the well-being of the internal organs of humans and animals.
Analyse the role of the skeleton, the nervous system, the endocrine system in the processes and coordination of living things.
Describe the features of the physical, cognitire, psychological and social development of all human age groups.
Describe the genetic basis of evolution.
Understand the genetic basis of some illnesses.
Analyse the achievement of biotechnology in medicine and industry with regards to the protection of the environment.
Specify by experiments the anatomic build-up of plants, reserve substances in the plant organs, the main components of food substances, homeostasis.
General objectives of year XII
In biology,by the end of the year the students are expected to:
Widen and deepen their knowledge about the mechanism and genetic continuity of life.
Develop their knowledge about the place of man in the living world about morphological features and about human evolution.
Widen their knowledge and skills regarding the human organization and the physiology of their central nervous system.
Develop their knowledge and skills on the biological basis of behaviour.
Be able to describe an ecosystem and to evaluate the interconnection between systems.
Stimulate in them a will to study and interpret the environment from the physical, geographic, biological, sociological, economic, technological, aesthetic, spiritual point if view.
Specify through experiments the amount of environmental pollution and its influence on the environment.
Projects
In the subject of Biology one of the tasks of the students is to create projects, working in groups. The students of XII have made projects about the following topics:
1.Tropical rainforests
;
2.Savannas

3.Deserts

4.Amazon and Danube river

5.Glaciers and icebergs
