Pupils' assessment and promotion

Pupils are assessed throughout the scholastic year. Four assessment marks are given, namely in November, January, April and June. Each assessment mark is based on the class participation and behaviour, homework, class work, essays, projects, practical work, oral performance, tests and any other work related to the subject studied.

For each assessment the following guidelines are taken into consideration:

Home work: 25-35%

Class work: 25-35%

Class participation: 10-20%

Tests: 15-25%

Projects or Essays: 15-20%

Examinations:

At the end of each semester, namely in February and June, there is an examination session. The first semester exam contributes 20% to the final mark, while the annual examination contributes 30%. The assessment contributes 50%.

No examinations are held for the following subjects. Instead, the four assessments will be considered for the final global mark:

Geography, History of Albania, Information Technology, Physical Education, Theory of Knowledge, Sociology, Philosophy, Economy.

Pupils' Promotion

  1. The pass-mark for promotion purposes is 35 (Albanian mark: 5).

  2. Students who on the basis of the final mark, fail in three subjects will not be promoted but they will repeat the class.

  3. The marks given for any work or exam is in the range 0-100. Convergence from the percentage scale to decimal scale and letter grading is as follows:
